Looks to me like Windows is betting the farm on the continuing development of Windows tablets and Smartphones rather than consumer desktop or laptop success with Windows 8. Obviously some of the Enterprise will follow as they have dutifully with Windows 7. But then there was Vista and we all know that was a complete Enterprise bust. My bet is that Microsoft struggles and continues to lose ground to Android and IOS. Stay Tuned!
