Microsoft + Cloud-ified = oxymoron.
The outcome remains to be seen, but MS's latest attempt to catch-up seems more like bait and switch than anything else. The company that owns the desktop knows that mobility and the cloud are, indeed, the future of computing as we will know it. Getting there for MS is another thing.
If Microsoft would compete on price - like Kindle - and stop acting as if they still have a monopoly on the data center, the desktop, the network itself, they might have a chance.
Watch the numbers is my suggestion. Market share rules. If it shrinks more, MS will be in trouble.
This IT professional wants them to succeed but only if they continue to play well with others - Android, Apple, Linux - and continue to add value to the enterprise.
