We always love to hear from the guys in charge touting how well they are going to do in advance of new product announcements. In this case, the former 800 lb gorilla, Microsoft, has been on a diet for a long time. For Ballmer to tout the installed base of PCs as his measure of potential success is silly. PCs, new and old still run Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. And the Vista debacle is still fresh on many people's minds.
I give them a C- in advance of the product roll outs. I've been wrong before. But . . .
