Obviously, not yet the reach of Verizon's Uppernet, but stay tuned.
The Cisco marketing department has been hard at work developing a "new" term for the reach that Cisco has from inside the corporate firewall out into the WAN (Wide Area Network) and on to the Cloud itself. Cisco, for one, provides connectivity products that move data inside and among all these data "realms".
To understand the Cloud - and the change that is occurring within the Internet itself starts with the physical infrastructure and devices that interconnect us like switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc. Hidden from view, these products shape the reach and scope of technology, regardless of whether it is wired or wireless.
We tend to focus on the gadgets - mobile devices, smartphones, computers, laptops etc., or content - eCommerce, Apps, websites, NewMedia, without realizing that the connections themselves make it possible.
I know, we don't really care that much about infrastructure, do we!
