How Vulnerable is the Internet?

After Snowden how vulnerable is the Internet

The web is vast and the Cloud is Huge!

We have a variety of historical examples that illuminate the benefits and disadvantages of the global interconnectivity which the Internet affords us.  The westward expansion of the railroads in the US, Europe, and Asia has taught us that as we connect people and communities, they communicate, change, and develop cultures, habits, and norms.  With those comes, of course, crime and other deviant behavior that compromises privacy, identity, and some of our freedom.

At the end of the day, we are still connected and still have an opportunity to improve the lives of billions of people.

This commentator just can't find the down side, even though there's still controversy.
