Google Didn't Tell the Govt. it Knew About Heartbleed

Despite the criticism that has been leveled at mega providers like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, and content providers like Netflix, Hulu, Apple, and Amazon, whether or not they have cooperated with the government to disclose your private information is often a matter of law, not an arbitrary choice.

But come on, folks.  Most of the above services are "free" and justifiably more risky than those where there is either an implied and contractual obligation to protect you.

Notions of privacy, spying, exploitation, and criminal activity have all taken a much larger bite out of our expectations of privacy and identity security, especially in cyberspace.
